We want to know who you think are the most influential make-up artists from the 1970s and 1980s - living or dead. Whether it's the iconic images of Brooke Shields in her Calvin's or Farrah Fawcett in her red swimming suit, make-up artists took part in those historic images.
So tell us who your favorite make-up artists were from those eras and what images they created. We look forward to your comments! Best, Cori Stoddard Online Editor Make-Up Artist magazine |

Hi Cori,
maybe this does not qualify but I have to go back another 3 years to 1967. What got me hooked on Special FX was a documentary on the making of the movie "Grand Prix", I was 13 years old then. There was one segment where they were "shooting" a race car from an air canon, then it cut to a scene where a make up artist was applying "fake blood" on the guy's forehead and placing the actor in the crumpled-up race car. Just seeing that short 2 minute clip did it for me, I was forever marked and intrigued by Special FX... that was 41 years ago. Guy |

Re: SFX Influence
Thanks for your comment. I've never heard of Grand Prix. It's interesting that some of the characters in it have my same last name and that of special effects artist Scott Stoddard (no relation).
Best, Cori |
